Makerspace Branding

Agency: Chess Club Agency

Introducing Makerspace:

Saskatoon Makerspace is a non-profit arts education facility and community workspace where people come together to “make good things.” The organization provides the space, tools, knowledge, and resources for individuals to learn new skills, explore their creativity, and bring ideas to life. Although the environment fosters creativity without judgment, the team felt their existing brand came across as more “boring cousin” than “cool uncle.” Their goal was to create a brand that feels approachable, fresh, and fun, while still maintaining professionalism and credibility. They also aimed to strengthen visibility as Saskatoon’s go-to hub for non-profit arts education and creative exploration.

The Transformation:

Through our research, we learned that Makerspace appreciated the foundation of their existing brand but felt it needed refinement. Using insights gathered in the discovery report, we developed a refreshed visual identity supported by a clear strategy that explained both the “why” and the “how.”

The final package included comprehensive brand guidelines, a new logo, an expanded colour palette, updated typography, iconography, and all the essential details needed to make the rebrand cohesive and complete.
